Ouch, John. Your coin is bent? Ugh. That will reduce its collector value to zero. Collectors will not buy damaged coins. Damage includes spots, stains, scratches, cleanings, and gouges.

NEVER CLEAN A COIN. CLEANING RUINS VALUE.

These old coins from the Canadian province of Newfoundland command respectable collector values. The more modern coins, with kings George V and George VI and less valuable. As a general rule, the earlier dates with Edward VII are more valuable.

The listings below give approximate catalog values.

Damaged coins have no collector value, but they still have precious metal value due to the silver they are made from. Use a website such as Kitco.com to look up the current price of silver per troy ounce, then multiply it by the amount of silver in your coin as listed in the value tables above.

Apply the concepts outlined on our Important Terminology page to convert these catalog values to actual buy and sell values.
