India (British) Pie 1830 to 1833
India (British) Pie 1830 to 1833

The official monetary denominations of British colonial India were:

3 Pies = 1 Pice = 1 Paisa
4 Pice = 1 Anna
16 Annas = 1 Rupee
15 Rupees = 1 Mohur

so one pie is one-12th anna and one-192nd of a rupee.

Just about all of the pies you see are worn and very dark. Finding one in good shape is a challenge. Typical catalog values run like this:

worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2
well preserved: $8
fully uncirculated: $35

Use our Important Terminology page to convert these catalog values to actual buy and sell values.

Coins with dates 1830 and 1831 are much more rare than coins dated 1833.
