San Marino 5 and 10 Centesimi 1864 to 1938

San Marino is the world's oldest and smallest republic. It is located in north central Italy with an area of only 24 square miles. San Marino issued several beautiful coins during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Monica's coin is a 10 centisimi piece. Other San Marino coins from this era are 5 centisimi, 50 centesimi, lira, 2 lire, and 5 lire. This page covers the copper issues: 5 and 10 centesimi. The other coins are silver.

Some of the early coins have a wreath on the back, surrounding the denomination. Most have a plain back with just the denomination.

Requester description: 1893 on the front repubblica di s. marino libertas...there is a crown two differnet leave vines surrounding it looks like waves going up in the middle is three castles on back says 10 centesimi 1893 there is what looks like a gun or an arrow with a R underneath
