Rhodesia (Southern, Zimbabwe) Half Penny and Penny 1934 to 1954 Zimbabwe in Africa was a British colony until recently. It was called 'Southern Rhodesia' until 1965. The British coinage from 1934 to 1954 bears the name of monarchs George VI and Elizabeth I. There are a few dates minted in bronze. Most are minted in copper-nickel. Values are the same regardless of metallic composition.

Collectors like these coins because they come from a place most people have not heard of. Typical catalog values run like this:

HALF PENNY
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2
well preserved: $4
fully uncirculated: $20
1934, 1939 and 1954 are the 'better date' half pennies, worth about twice these values

PENNY
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2
well preserved: $6
fully uncirculated: $25
1935, 1942 and 1954 are the 'better date' pennies, worth about twice these values
