Germany Bavaria 1, 3, and 6 Kreuzer 1839 to 1871
Germany Bavaria 1, 3, and 6 Kreuzer 1839 to 1871

The 1, 3, and 6 kreuzer coins of this period use a crowned coat of arms pattern which was eventually replaced by ruler portraits. This page applies only to crowned arms coins.

Some earlier coins omit SCHEIDMUNZE (small change) and substitute BAYERN for BAYERISCHE (Bavaria). Our secondary picture shows the earlier look. All dates between 1839 and 1871 carry essentially the same values as those shown below.

1 KREUZER
worn: $3 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $6
well preserved: $12
fully uncirculated: $18

3 KREUZER
worn: $5 US dollar approximate catalog value

well preserved: $15
fully uncirculated: $22

6 KREUZER
worn: $5 US dollar approximate catalog value

6 keuzers dated 1866 and 1867 with SCHEIDE MUNZE are more rare, multiply these values by four.

Use our Important Terminology page to convert these inflated catalog values to actual buy and sell values.

Thank you so much for solving this one for me. The one Krause reference I don't have is the 1801-1900, and the NGC.com site didn't have it. I knew Bayern was Bavaria but it wasn't coming up for me. Thank you again. I really appreciate you. I don't ask you because I would like an appraisal. I ask you so I can identify the coin. - Chris
