This is not a coin, but a piece of jewelry. Because it looks so much like Balboa coinage from Panama, we include it here. Check this CoinQuest link for a Panama 2 1/2 centesimos coin and you will see a strong resemblance. Vasco Nunez de Balboa was the first European to lay eyes on the Pacific Ocean. His conquistador likeness appears on many Panamanian coins.
We have seen these in copper, but JO's piece is surely gold. It is worth gold value plus whatever sentimental value the jewelry holds.
With today's weak US dollar, gold is over $1700 per troy ounce, that means JO's jewelry is worth at least 0.2 x 1700 = $340. Not bad.
