Sweden 1 Krona and 2, and 5 Kronor (Gustav VI) 1952 to 1971 | 2 sweden 5 vi 1 gustav crown shield coat nickel framfor allt plikten sveriges kroner sweded sverige seeden swweden swedish You are correct, Adam. That's King Gustav VI who ruled Sweden from 1950 to 1973. These coins have his likeness on the heads side (called the obverse, officially) and a crowned shield on the reverse. All coins, except the 5 kronor, bear the inscription Plikten Framfor Allt which means duty first.

Many of the early coins were minted in silver, so they carry a base value and cannot be worth less than that. To compute the base value, multiply the current price of silver (look it up, it changes every day, on web sites such as kitco.com) by the weight of silver in the coin. Here are the details.

1 KRONA 1952 TO 1968, 0.09 troy ounces silver
worn: add $0 to base silver value
average circulated: add $0
well preserved: add $2
fully uncirculated: add $4
for coins dated 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1958, 1959, and 1961, add $20 if, and only if, fully uncirculated

1 KRONA 1968 TO 1973, made of copper-nickel, no silver
circulated: face value
fully uncirculated: $3

2 KRONOR 1952 TO 1966, 0.18 troy ounces silver
worn: add $0 to base silver value
average circulated: add $0
well preserved: add $2
fully uncirculated: add $4
for coins dated 1952, 1955, 1957, 1959, and 1961, add $10 if, and only if, fully uncirculated

2 KRONOR 1968 TO 1971, made of copper-nickel, no silver

fully uncirculated: $3

5 KRONOR 1954 TO 1971, 0.231 troy ounces silver
