Great Britain Crown 1821 and 1822
You can often find these grand old crowns from George IV in coin shops, but you seldom find them in good condition. The coin in our picture comes from Eichsfelder Munnzhandel in Bahnhofstr, Germany where it is on sale for 215 euros (about $280 US dollars), which is a good price for such a nice coin.
Watch how the catalog prices jump up as condition improves:
worn: $50 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $175
well preserved: $1000
fully uncirculated: $2500
These values apply to both 1821 and 1822 dates. To convert these catalog values to actual buy and sell values, consult our Terminology page.
CoinQuest thanks Eichsfelder Munzhandel for use of their coin photo. It's a nice one!
