Finland 1 and 2 Markka 1864 to 1893
Finland 1 and 2 Markka 1864 to 1893

These are nice silver coins with the old Byzantine double-headed eagle from Finland. The 1 and 2 markka denominations were minted in silver, and a few dates can be quite valuable.

Below are some approximate catalog values for these coins. As always, catalog values apply to coins without any problems, such as scratches, stains, cleanings, nicks, gouges, corrosion, and the like.

1 MARKKA (0.145 troy ounces silver)
worn: $10 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $15
well preserved: $40
fully uncirculated: $125
1 markkas dated 1864, 1867, and 1872 are more rare and catalog at about twice these values

2 MARKKA (0.289 troy ounces silver)
worn: $15 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $30
well preserved: $75
fully uncirculated: $200
2 markkas dated 1866 are more rare and catalog at about twice these values

Apply the concepts outlined on our Important Terminology page to properly interpret these catalog values.
