Iran 100 Dinars 1900 to 1908
Iran 100 Dinars 1900 to 1908

You most likely have an Iran 100 dinars, Dennis. It is a pretty coin, isn't it? The one in our picture has exceptional eye appeal. Nice!

These coins bear Hijri (Islamic) dates. AH1318 to AH1326 (Hijri) corresponds to 1900AD to 1911AD (Gregorian).

Values are still quite low, although collectors will pay premiums for nice-looking specimens. Here is what the catalogs say:

worn: $5 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $10
well preserved: $16
fully uncirculated: $36

Dates AH1318, AH1319, and AH1326 are somewhat less common and command slightly higher prices.

To convert catalog values to actual values, consult our Important Terminology page (link at upper left).

Requester description: The date is in Persian and looks to be either 1218 or 1318. The front has a lion with a sword and the sun in the back. This is in the center, and is bigger than what is on the site already. The lion is surrounded by leaves with a crown at the top. The date appears very small below the lion.On the back, the coin is again surrounded by leaves with a crown at the top. In the center of this, there is Persian writing, with the only thing I can read saying 100. 100?
