Professor Holloway Token (UK) 1856 to 1858
Thomas 'Professor' Holloway was a colorful advertising genius and purveyor of pills and ointments in 19th century Europe. He pioneered many advertising techniques still in use today and grew rich selling patent medicines. This Wikipedia page outlines his life.
Holloway advertising tokens are collectible items. The one in our picture is in superb condition, and it sold at auction from Noble Numismatics in Australia for a whopping $520 Australian dollars, or about $530 US dollars.
