Israel 5 Lirot 1964

 Date: 1964
 Mint mark: not apparent

Description: If is inscribed in Hebrew on both sides and all around rim, but original case says it's an Israeli Independence Day coin in English and what I assume is Hebrew also, which may be indicative of independence/statehood coin. It shows the top of an ornate column on one side, with some hebrew letters preceding the number 5, then more hebrew letters just below that. hebrew letters also on the column where the 1964 is small and more letters after that. other side shows some sort of modern looking building and 3 hebrew words on bottom of that side.
 Composition: silver

Israel 5 Lirot 1964 Thanks, Susan, for the first CoinQuest appraisal for an Israeli coin. You have a silver 5 lirot that commemorates the 16th anniversary of the Israel Museum. These are selling retail in the range of $25 to $35 US dollars, but the price goes up and down with silver. Look up the price of silver at kitco.com and multiply by 0.723, which is the number of troy ounces of silver in this coin.
