Thanks, Susan, for the first CoinQuest appraisal for an Israeli coin. You have a silver 5 lirot that commemorates the 16th anniversary of the Israel Museum. They are worth at least their precious metal value, which goes up and down with silver. Look up the price of silver at kitcosilver.com and multiply by 0.723, which is the number of troy ounces of silver in this coin. At today's values, each coin contains $20.50 x 0.723 = $14.80 USD worth of silver (the Base Balue = BV)
Since a small number of only about 11 thousand pieces were struck, the value goes up for coins in better states of preservation:
worn: Base Value (BV)
average circulated: BV
well preserved: BV + $5 US dollars
fully uncirculated: BV + $25
For a coin to quality as fully uncirculated, it should still be in original packaging from the mint. These are not circulation but collector's coins, and many are still in their original protective plastic. Only these demand the full +$25 premium.
, Genre: Modern-only

Requester description: 1964 If is inscribed in Hebrew on both sides and all around rim, but original case says it's an Israeli Independence Day coin in English and what I assume is Hebrew also, which may be indicative of independence/statehood coin. It shows the top of an ornate column on one side, with some hebrew letters preceding the number 5, then more hebrew letters just below that. hebrew letters also on the column where the 1964 is small and more letters after that. other side shows some sort of modern looking building and 3 hebrew words on bottom of that side.
