Liechtenstein 1, 2, and 5 Kronen and 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Franken 1900 to 1924
Liechtenstein 1, 2, and 5 Kronen and 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Franken 1900 to 1924

Liechtenstein is a tiny country of only 62 square miles in central Europe. Prince John II ruled from 1858 to 1929. His likeness appears on these silver coins with a crowned, wreathed shield on the reverse side. These coins, in general, are quite valuable.

The coin in our picture is an exceptional example. Most coins you see are not as nice as this one. This one has very little wear, no discoloration from age, and razor-sharp definition in the patterns. It comes from Westfalische Auktionsgesellschaft in Arnsberg, Germany where it sold for 200 euros (about $270 US dollars) in a 2008 auction. Today, it would command a higher price. CoinQuest thanks Westfalische for use of their coin photo. It is an amazing specimen, well worth its high premium value.

The catalog values below are all approximate and apply to all dates. The denomination appears on the shield side, with KR = kronen and FR = franken.
