Austria (Salzburg) Kreuzer and Thaler Coinage 1772 to 1803
Austria (Salzburg) Kreuzer and Thaler Coinage 1772 to 1803

Hieronymus ruled Salzburg between 1772 and 1803. His likeness appears on the major silver coinage of the day: 10 and 20 kreuzer and 1/2 and 1 thaler. These are major collectible coins and are sought avidly by numismatists (coin collectors) from around the globe. As always, condition means everything. If your coin is worn or damaged in some way (scratches, stains, cleanings, nicks, etc.), it is not worth very much. But if you have a coin that is in good shape, like the one in our picture, you have a valuable coin.

The listings below give very approximate catalog values for these coins. You do not buy and sell coins at catalog prices, but you use the catalogs to guide individual transactions. The ins-and-outs of catalog values are explained on our Important Terminology page.

All dates carry roughly equivalent value unless called out specifically below. Some dates have patterns on the reverse side which differ slightly from that shown.
