Medal: France Napoleonic (Marie Louise Josephine) 1797 to 1815
Medal: France Napoleonic (Marie Louise Josephine) 1797 to 1815

It is clear, Gloria, that you have a Napoleonic medal of some type.

Marie was Napoleon's second wife, although the imperial wedding was in 1810, not 1801. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue about such matters.

The wings, loincloth, asps, and rooster are all symbology used widely on French coins, even to this day. However, after an thorough search I could not locate Gloria B's medal online. Graciously, she sent a picture. Isn't it a beauty?.

Gloria's piece does not have much wear, but the patina (the surface) carries some faint splotches and discolorations. Gloria's piece is worth between $200 and $300 US dollars retail, and about half that if selling to a dealer. Without the minor imperfections, another $100 could be added to the retail value.
