Peru EXANO / REXANO Fake 8 Reales (Counterfeit) 1736
Peru EXANO / REXANO Fake 8 Reales (Counterfeit) 1736

There are no genuine coins with an EXANO inscription. This is a fake, meant to fool tourists and novelty hunters. It is worth zero. Sometimes they are painted gold to make them look a little better.

The coin mimics real Spanish cob coins from Peru and Bolivia. For typical values of genuine coins, read our discussion on Spanish colonials at this link [Click Here].

When were these fake coins manufactured. I was given one by my grandmother in 1963 when I started collecting coins.
They were probably made in the US, but I am not sure. My grandmother, also, started me in coins with a small jar of US cents. That was 57 years ago (I was 10) and my interest in coins is still going strong ... - CoinQuest (Paul)
