Greece 50 Drachmes 1988 to 2000
Greece 50 Drachmes 1988 to 2000

Now that's what I call a spiffy coin, Lorraine. Famous Greek Poet Homer (OMHPOS) appears on the front, and an ancient sailboat on the back. Unfortunately, the coin is made of nickel-brass, not gold.

As a modern coin with no precious metal content, this coin is worth small amounts. A collector might pay a few US dollars for one in beautiful shape, like the one in our picture. Otherwise these coins are worth less than $1 each.

Coins dated 1993 are available only in sets, not in circulation. These are worth $10 to $20.
