Medal: US Presidential Backbone Ben Harrison 1960 to 1980
There are a few versions of these bronze medals. The portrait of President Harrison varies somewhat, but the catchy inscriptions, especially BACKBONE BEN, are the same in all versions. All versions are low-value modern pieces, ranging in date of manufacture from the mid to late 1900s.
This web page from the Smithsonian Institution reports that this token was made by the well-known Scovill Manufacturing Company. Other versions may have been produced by the The Franklin Mint for a Reader's Digest promotion, or similar.
Regardless of origin, these tokens sell on eBay for a few US dollars. A coin dealer would probably pay $1 or $2 for a nice example. Presumably the Scovill token would bring a little more value than a Franklin Mint token, but this does not occur in practice because of the similarity of the items.
