Ancient Rome Constantine Follis Two Soldiers Gloria Exercitvs (Fakes are possible) 307AD to 337AD
Thanks, Alison, for your careful description. There is a lot of variability in ancient coins, so this might not be your coin precisely. However, there is a good possibility you have a follis from ancient Rome during the reign of Constantine I (the Great). The inscription on the back reads GLORIA EXERCITVS, or 'the glory of the army.' Two soldiers with spears face each other, with a single standard between them. Other coins have two standards between the soldiers.
It is amazing that these coins are plentiful. Typical values run like this:
worn: $20 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $45
well preserved: $80
Counterfeits exist. See, for instance, this page [Press Here].

Requester description: The designs are quite raised from the surface
head side: head in profile, man with a strong straight nose, curly short hair, but with two threads? coming from the area of his hairline on the back of his head. Scooped neck clothes/robes of some sort
Other side: two human figures standing on either side of some sort of totem pole/tower (or could be another figure. Both figures have their outer arm up with, possibly holding a spear; and the inner arm low, possibly holding a bow. The shapes of the figures look like they might have helmets on/soldier like
