Medal: Germany Konrad Adenauer, Kolner Dom 1876 to 1992
Konrad Adenauer was the statesman who lead Germany out of the morass created by Adolph Hitler and his Nazi party. As the first post-war Chancellor of West Germany, Adenauer led his country from the ruins of World War II to a productive and prosperous nation that forged close relations with old enemy France, the United Kingdom and the United States. During his years in power Germany achieved democracy, stability, international respect and economic prosperity.
Klner Dom is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Cologne, Germany. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and the administration of the Archdiocese of Cologne. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site. It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day.
This medal, clearly, celebrates both Adenauer and the Cologne cathedral. It is made of base metal and sells retail for a few US dollars.
