Token: Netherlands Burmann Penning 50 Cents 1934
Token: Netherlands Burmann Penning 50 Cents 1934

Burmann had as a textile factory, now a number of textile shops throughout the Netherlands. Their main store is now in Groniingen, called Essenza. This is an old advertising token for Burmann. The phrase VERGOEDING BIJ AANKOOP VAN 4.50 means COMPENSATION FOR PURCHASE 4:50, so if you bought 5.00 worth of goods, the last 50 cents was free. Nice! There's a great photo from Groniingen of the Burmann store over at Flickr.

Assigning values to this token is a little dicey. We have checked all our haunts and can find no actual auction results, so our estimates must be based on what we know about tokens like this and the fact that it appears in the super-comprehensive With no auction results, it must be somewhat rare, so CoinQuest's estimates are:

worn: $5 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $10
well preserved: $25
fully uncirculated: $50

Remember these are catalog values and must be adjusted in accordance with our Terminology page.
