These are very beautiful examples of modern medallic artwork. The surfaces are very pretty gold and silver, with varied themes centered on '1200 years of coins - freedom and justice (munze freiheit und gerechtigkeit).' Each medal has a unique design.
As to value, it all depends on the silver content. All of them that you see are advertised with 999 silber (0.999 pure silver), but they may be made of solid silver or simply silver plated. The gold plating is so thin, it adds nothing to value.
BE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE SILVER CONTENT BEFORE BUYING THESE MEDALS.
We have been unable to ascertain the solid-or-plated status of these medals. All we have to go on is advertising we see on eBay and similar web sites, and the advertising is elusive, which is a red flag.
If solid silver: value is $20 to $30 US dollars.
If silver plated: value is $1 to $2 US dollars.
Under normal circumstances, an inscription of 999 silber should appear somewhere on the piece. If it is there, good. That means the piece is solid silver. If no inscription appears, the piece is probably silver plated. The inscription may be on the edge of the medal.
