Medal: Great Britain Greenwich Mint Millennium 2000
Medal: Great Britain Greenwich Mint Millennium 2000

This nice-looking medallion, and ones like it, are quite a puzzle. The biggest puzzle is 'What is the Greenwich Mint?' They have a web site, but it only says 'coming soon.' Presumably they are in Greenwich, England and not Greenwich, Connecticut, USA.

There are several different patterns on the non-circular side. The pattern shown here is the Compass Rose pattern, but there are several others. A well-known private mint, the Tower Mint in London, uses the nested-circles pattern for some of their medallions, so perhaps the Greenwich Mint and the Tower Mint are related.

Normally, the best place to find value information about items like this is eBay. They usually supply dozens of auction results which are then averaged to estimate catalog values. But with these medals, there are very few auction results. This causes us to suspect that these medals may be somewhat scarce, which drives price up.

These medals are made of non-precious metal. Some are plated with silver, but the plating adds no value. Our best estimate of value is:

circulated: $5 US dollars approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: $20

Be sure to read our Important Terminology page to interpret catalog values. Actual retail values are less, and wholesale values are much less.
