Great Britain 3 and 6 Pence (Oak Back) 1927 to 1936
Great Britain 3 and 6 Pence (Oak Back) 1927 to 1936

These oak-backed three and six pence coins from Great Britain are not quite old enough to command strong numismatic (coin collector) premium. All dates are worth only a few US dollars due mostly to their silver content. Here are some typical catalog values.

THREEPENCE (OAK BACK, 0.023 troy ounces silver)
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: $2
fully uncirculated: $15
threepence dated 1928 and 1930 are more rare and catalog at $15 in well preserved condition

SIXPENCE (OAK BACK, 0.046 troy ounces silver)
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $1
well preserved: $8
fully uncirculated: $35
sixpence dated 1932 and 1934 are more rare and catalog at $15 in well preserved condition

If you have a bunch of these coins, even in worn condition, add up their silver weight and then multiply by the current value of silver.

Requester description: 1931 First side: Inscription reads, 'Georgius V D.G.Britt. Omn: Rex F. D. Ind: Imp:' and has a picture of a man--I assume George the Fifth. Second side: Reads, 'Sixpence' above and, 'A 1931 D' below. The picture is of three two-thonged branches with a leaf in the middle of each thong. That's the best I can describe it.
