Great Britain 6 Pence, Shilling, 1/2 Crown and Crown 1727 to 1751
Great Britain 6 Pence, Shilling, 1/2 Crown and Crown 1727 to 1751

King George II ruled Great Britain from 1727 to 1760. The large silver coins he issued all carry basically the same pattern and can be differentiated based on size. These coins can be quite valuable, especially when in well preserved condition.

The shilling in our picture comes from respected eBay seller dimas3d. This coin is in beautiful shape and would make a fine addition to any top-notch coin collection. As such, it commands high price, well over $300 US dollars.

CoinQuest thanks dimas3d for use of their coin photo. It's a beauty!

Before listing specific evaluations, we must warn you that counterfeits of rare coins are quite common. You can see a sample counterfeit of an old British coin at this CoinQuest link.
