Yo, PJ -- Nice coin! -- Norway was Danish until 1914, so the big FR on the front of your coin stands for king Frederik the sixth of Denmark. All denominations from 1 to 4 skillings were minted in copper, but the 8 skilling was minted in silver and has somewhat different inscriptions on the reverse side. The script FR appears on all denominations. Some coins have rosettes on the date side.

Requester description: 1810 The coin weighs 8 grams and is 2.54 centimeters or 1 inch round. It has on one side the inscription ' 2 skilling couran 1810' with a crossee set of hammers or probably war mallets between the 18 and the 10. The other side has a crown with the scrolled letters TR below and the roman numerial V1. The T is encorporated into the R.
