France 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Francs 1824 to 1830
France 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Francs 1824 to 1830

Great coin! These are valuable old silver coins from France. They come in 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 franc denominations. Many of them have low mintages and there are only a few surviving specimens, which drives up value. The mint mark, to the right of the date, is important in some coins.

The coin in our picture comes from Alain Cheilan in Toulon, France, and CoinQuest thanks Alain for use of this great photo.

Here is a run-down of typical catalog values for these old coins. Use our Important Terminology page to understand how to interpret these values. The term 'catalog value' is a weasel word and needs to be fully explained.
