Haiti 10, 20, and 50 Centimes 1881 to 1894
Collector interest is starting to pick up for Haitian coins. Preparing this appraisal, I notice that the catalog values are lagging the prices these coins are selling for on eBay and in other places on the open market. Coin collectors call such coins sleepers. Hope you have a good one!
Condition is the most important factor with any coin from Haiti. If you can find one in good shape, you have found something. Most of them are heavily worn. The sample in our picture is in well preserved condition. CoinQuest has adjusted the values below to reflect our market observations and apply to all dates in the series. They are reported as catalog values. To interpret them use our Important Terminology page (link at upper left). 10 CENTIMES (0.067 troy ounces silver) worn: $3 US dollars approximate catalog value average circulated: $6 well preserved: $20 fully uncirculated: $80 20 CENTIMES (0.134 troy ounces silver) worn: $5 US dollars approximate catalog value average circulated: $12 well preserved: $25 fully uncirculated: $100 50 CENTIMES (0.335 troy ounces silver) worn: $8 US dollars approximate catalog value average circulated: $15 well preserved: $30 fully uncirculated: $120
