Ecuador 1/2, 1 and 2 Decimos, 50 Centavos, and 1/2, 1, 2, 5, and 10 Sucres 1884 to 1990 Simón Bolivar was, of course, the great liberator of Hispanic America from Spain. One of his closest friends, generals, and statemen was Antonio José de Sucre y Alcalá, whose portrait appears on many coins from Ecuador. This page deals with all Ecuadorian coins with General Sucre's portrait (as shown in our picture), of which there are quite a few. The reverse design with flags, eagle, sun, mountain, and water also appears on all the coins of this page. See this CoinQuest page if your coin from Ecuador does not have the head of a man shown.

The values are all catalog values and they must be converted to actual buy and sell values using the descriptions found on our Important Terminology page (link at upper left).
