Cyprus 1/4, 1/2 and 1 Piastre 1879 to 1908

It sounds like you have a tidy little numismatic endeavor going, Oliver. Coin collecting is fun, and it is even more fun if you can actually gain money doing it!

Yes, these old piastres from Cyprus demonstrate excellent value, especially in well preserved condition. Our catalogs quote the values listed below. As you know, Oliver, you must adjust catalog values substantially to get actual buy and sell values. (See our Important Terminology page if you are not familiar with the concept of 'catalog' value.)

Requester description: 1879 Hello again! After selling my last lot of coins I have come into a few more, donated by my grandfather. I think the stand out (in terms of value, not interest) is a Cyprus Half Piastre. The obverse bears a bust of Victoria, wearing a tiara and hair in a bun. The edge text reads 'Queen Victoria 1879'. The reverse sports a large 1/2 fraction encircled by a ring of dots and, outside this, the edge text 'Cyprus Half Piastre' and a couple of larger dots. A fairly plain coin by all accounts but, from my Google searches I believe it may hold some value, especially as the condition is quite good?
