1970S Lincoln Cent Doubled Die The picture comes from The Cherrypicker's Guide by Fivaz and Stanton. Does your coin display strong doubling like that shown in the picture? Especially on the WE? If so, congratulations, you have a very valuable coin, worth hundreds of US dollars.

But be careful. There are doubled die coins and there are machine doubled coins. A trained eye can tell the difference. Machine doubling is worth zero.

If you think you have a doubled die coin, take it to a knowledgeable collector or coin dealer for evaluation. Then, if he or she agrees it is a doubled die and not machine doubling, have your coins authenticated, graded, and encapsulated by PCGS, ICG, NGC, or ANACS. It is a valuable piece. Cherrpicker's says a 1970S doubled die is worth over $500 US dollars, and my copy is only the third edition.
