Germany Hitler Propaganda Medal 1933 Sherry sent us this picture of her German propaganda medal. The brutal dictator Adolf Hitler came to power in a few short months. There were 'free' elections, but after 10 months of masterful politicizing, only Nazi candidates were on the ballot. Part of the politics involved massive amounts of propaganda, some of which took the form of medals and medallions which were extra appealing because Germany was in very difficult economic times. If you do a CoinQuest search (box at upper right) on 'nazi hitler' you will see several other examples of Hitler war material.

The German translates roughly to 'Our future: Adolf Hitler' and '1933: year of the German turning point'.

Nazi material is collected today and there are several web sites which specialize in this. One is Wittmann Antique Militaria in Moorestown, NJ. At the moment, Wittmann has a propaganda medal like Sherry's on sale for $250 US dollars. I suspect Sherry's could sell retail for about that amount, as long as she could find the right collector. However, there is also one on eBay, with a bid of about $50, so that gives an idea about the wide variability of prices for such pieces.

Sherry's medallion is in beautiful shape and has no problems such as scratches, stains, cleanings, scuffs, or nicks.

The $50 and $250 values in the paragraph above are retail values. To sell this medallion to a dealer, a 100 percent markup (or more) is typical.
