Germany 10 Reichspfennig and Rentenpfennig 1923 to 1936
Germany 10 Reichspfennig and Rentenpfennig 1923 to 1936

Your coin is made of aluminum bronze, la Tomo, and I am assuming it is a reichspfennig, not a rentenpfennig. Both coins look the same and both were minted in 1924.

Between the World Wars the Weimar Republic of Germany issued several pfennig and mark coins that are sought by collectors today. They are made from aluminum-bronze, and have the gloomy 'DEUTSCHES REICH' on the obverse, with six stalks of grain forming a cool triangle above the date on the reverse.

The great majority of these coins are not worth very much, as outlined in the approximate catalog values given below.

RENTENPFENNIG (1923 to 1925):
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2
well preserved: $5
fully uncirculated: $30
Rentenpfennig (not reichspfennig) dated 1923A and 1923D are worth 3 times the above values.
Rentenpfennig (not reichspfennig) dated 1923F are rare and catalog for $100 in average circulated condition.
Rentenpfennig (not reichspfennig) dated 1925F are extremely rare and catalog for $1500 in average circulated condition.

REICHSPFENNIG (1924 to 1936):
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $3
well preserved: $15
fully uncirculated: $50

Some reichspfennig are less common and catalog at higher values. The number after the date and mintmark given below is for reichspfennig (not rentenpfennig) coins in average circulated condition.
1924F: $12
1926G: $12
1928G: $150
1931D: $45
1931F: $25
1931G: $260
1932G: $850
1934 E, F, G: $35

Some reichspfennig are more common. The following dates and mintmarks of reichspfennig are worth a third to a half of the common date values given above.
1924A, D, E
1925A
1929A, D
1930A, D
1931A
1932A
1934A

I have a 1929 E reichspfennig in good condition. Can't find a value for it, any help is appreciated. - Andrew
Approximate values are shown on this page. - CoinQuest (Paul)

I have the 1925 f coin mint condition, is it really worth 1500$ - Miranda Peters
The important distinction to make is if you have a 10 reichspfennig or 10 rentenpfennig coin. If it says '10 rentenpfennig' on the reverse (instead of 'reichspfennig'), then you have a valuable coin. Only 13,000 were minted and to have one in mint condition would be incredibly rare. - CoinQuest (Todd)

I have 1924 G what look like number 2 is mint together with number 9.Top half is from 9 other half is from number 2.Deutsches Reich,Rentenpfennig
The design of digit 2, for this type of coin is made, from digit 9 plus a tail. - CoinQuest (Andrei)
