Greece 50 Lepta, 1, 2, 5, and 10 Drachmai 1954 to 1970
Greece 50 Lepta, 1, 2, 5, and 10 Drachmai 1954 to 1970

Check the date, Ralph. Greece did not mint 50 lepta coins in 1960. The catalogs show them dated from 1954 to 1970, but the year 1960 is left out. Drachma, and 2, 5, and 10 drachmai coins have the same pattern, but they are bigger than the 50 lepta and have slightly different annotations.

These are all modern coins made of copper nickel. As such, they carry face value unless they are in gorgeous condition, like the one in our picture. Then a collector might pay a few US dollars to add it to his or her collection.

The 1957 date is slightly rare. Here are catalog values for that date

50 LEPTA, DRACHMA, and 2 DRACHMAI dated 1957
worn: $1 US dollar
average circulated: $5
well preserved: $40
fully uncirculated: $200

Use our Terminology page to convert these catalog values to actual buy and sell values.
