Date: 1977 - Inscription: President of the United States Jimmy Carter - Questions: Value? Error?

This is a 1977 Inaugural Medal for President Jimmy Carter. While I found several of these elsewhere I cannot find ANY with a Denver mint mark? I contacted the national mint but they had no information for me. This medal has a distinct 'D' beneath the 'E' in Carter on the obverse. This medal is encased in clear plastic with red stripes on two sides exactly like Denver Mint sets. Does anyone know the value of a Denver minted Jimmy Carter Inaugural Medal?

The mint not having any information probably doesn't mean that it's a one-off or unique item, I have found other medals with the D mintmark and the sellers claim nothing special. I doubt the Mint would keep/know information from a coin made so long ago.
I have found 2 types of this coin, one with D one without and I would guess the no mint-mark would of been the Philadelphia mint.

The United States Mint actually told me that the Denver mint did NOT make Inaugural Medals. I have never seen a Denver minted Inaugural medal anywhere for any president.

I couldn't dig up much information on the Denver-minted medals.
But their value is around $25 compared to brand-new non-'D' marked ones at $7.

It's a mystery. It sure looks like Denver in every way, but I have not been able to find a catalog with one, or one offered for sale. It is likely the person you talked to at the mint did not know.

There are a lot of US collectors over at CoinTalk and CoinCommunity. Have you tried there?
