Our page on these gold sovereigns or half sovereigns appears at the [coinquet.com] link to the left. That page has a list of the 'good dates and mint marks.' Other 'common date' coins, like Ben's are worth their weight in gold:

Sovereigns: 0.235 troy ounces gold
Half sovereigns: 0.118 ounces gold

The M mint mark means Melbourne, Australia. Coins without mint marks were made in London.
