The link to the left has information and estimated values for your coin, if genuine. However, while I am not an expert in authentication, it is my opinion that your coin would be a counterfeit one, the very even toning on the coin combined with my first impression of it gives it a 'feel' that it would be a counterfeit. However, it is best to get a second opinion from someone else here to make sure. |

I agree with Josh, the stars on the back look like they're too small, I would say it's a counterfeit.

Thank you gentlemen, looking at all the details closely with the aid of your comments and the excellent web reference also, I must agree it's a fake. I find it quite remarkable that so many people have made so many counterfeit coins, there must have been / be a real quid in it.

From a counterfeiters point of view, spending say a few dollars or less to get who knows how many coins of these mass produced, with each of them being 'valued' at $1000+ to an unsuspecting buyer, its a good profit for them if they succeed. Apparently, even some of these cheap counterfeits are sold for around $10 as 'tokens' or souvenir coins, so presumably they costed very very little to make.
