My son found this coin and I have been researching it on the internet.
It appears to be a Spanish Cob esconde 8 from Peru.
I see the pillars and waves. It is so worn that some of the writing is hard to make out. I can make out L 8 ? Across the top.
p?? In the middle. And ? 1 2 across the bottom. I cannot make out the letters going around the edge of the coin as they are cut off.

The back of the coin has a cross and obscure pictures in each quadrant.

I would like to hear your insights ..!

Thank you.
Laurie

Hi, I am currently listing this, and am now unsure whether I should ... There are things that look wrong, such as the gap at the top of the R in GRATIA, and the seriph? missing off the top of the I ... But, I've also looked at a top LondonCoin dealer who sold one 5/12/2016 which looks very similar. So I throw myself on your opinion, before I take it to CoinTalk, and see what they say ... always worth a second opinion. PS. There is no real provenance, only that it was owned by someone who travelled around the world, and collected stuff that interested him, but that didn't cost tooo much. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
