Belgium Mint Token (La Monnaie de Bruxelles) 1910

Well, that's kind of a cool piece, isn't is, Vahe? The specimen in our picture sold for 12 euros (about $15 US dollars) by Coin House SESAM Basel in Riehen, Switzerland. It is in good shape except for the stain at the center of the Aujourd'hui side. If the stain were not present, the value would be more.

This is a jeton or token that tells the story of coin minting. Once (jadis) upon a time, coins were minted by manual hammering. Today (aujourd'hui, in 1910), minting machines are used.

As to value, as long as the piece is well preserved, fully readable, and free of problems such as scratches, stains, cleanings, gouges, and the like, a nominal value of $15 US dollars is reasonable. That is a retail price. If you were to sell such a piece to a coin dealer, he or she would probably pay $5 or so. Remember that the market for tokens is not as strong as the one for legal tender coins.
