Neat coin, David. Venezuela started minting these copper-nickel coins with the curvy shield, horse, grain, swords, and flags in 1876. The denominations are 2 1/2 centavos, and 5, and 12 1/2 centimos. Monetary reform happened in 1876, when 100 centavos were equal to 1 venezuarlio, and again in 1896, when 100 centimos equaled 1 Bolivar.
