Thailand Coins with Garuda 1970 to Date

There are several variations of these modern coins from Thailand. They are all worth face value, having been minted only recently in base metal. The thing that makes them interesting is the mythical creature called a Garuda, half bird and half man. According to Wikipedia, the Garuda is a large mythical bird or bird-like creature that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology. It looks pretty scary to me!

As with any modern coin, if you have a fully uncirculated specimen with good eye appeal, like the coin in our picture, a collector might be willing to pay a few US dollars for it. Collectors always enjoy adding nice-looking coins to their collections.
