Just about all these coins are low-value modern issues. They are minted in nickel or stainless steel. Our picture shows a 1 lira coin. The 2 lire is similar, except the inscriptions are abbreviated: VITT EM III etc.
Coins dated between 1939 and 1942 are not worth very much. The 1 lira coins between 1939 and 1942 are worth about $5, and the 2 lire coins are worth about $10 US dollars when fully uncirculated. When circulated, they will not reach values of even a single US dollar unless average circulated or better, and with a nice eye appeal.
But the early and late dates are rare. These are catalog values for well preserved coins:
1 LIRA (*BETTER DATES*):
1936: $200 US dollars when well preserved
1937: $800 well preserved
1938: $850
1943: $50
2 LIRE (*BETTER DATES*):
1936: $240
1937: $850 (Must not have reeded edge)
1939: $2000 (Must not have reeded edge)
1942: $400
1943: $300
Hope you have one of the *good* dates! If your date is not in the list above, it's a common date. Please see the opening paragraph of the page for the value.
Any damaged coin will be worth a much less than the values listed above. Please see our Important Terminology page found at the top left in order to properly interpret these catalog values.
