Germany German Spiel Marke and Spiel Pfennig 1820 to 1940
Spiel is German for Game and Spielgeld or Spielmunze mean, essentially, 'play money.' Thousands of different types of spielgeld were produced in the 1800s and 1900s, and those that survive today are eagerly sought by token collectors. The value of old tokens ranges from $10 to $30 US dollars, sometimes more for unusual pieces that are in excellent condition.
