Rhodesia and Nyasaland Penny and Half Penny 1955 to 1964

Rhodesia and Nyasaland Penny and Half Penny 1955 to 1964

It's always cool to have elephants and giraffes on your coins. And holes in the middle, too!

These are modern coins from British possessions Rhodesia and Nyasaland in southern Africa. They are worth face value. A collector will pay a few US dollars to add one to his or her collection as long as it is in beautiful, uncirculated condition.

The 1956 half penny has the lowest mintage and can be a tad harder to find, though the value remains equally low thanks to a very small demand.

Some coins have the center hole offset. If it's just a couple of millimeters, it doesn't add much to value. But when the hole is severely offset from the center, then the value increases. Expect around $25 for such an interesting error coin.
