There are multiple notable exceptions:
- Coins dated 1936 are valuable and catalog for $40 in average circulated, $300 in fully uncirculated condition.
- Coins dated 1937 and 1938 are extremely rare and catalog for thousands of dollars.
- Coins dated 1939, 1940 and 1942 that are magnetic and with a plain edge, not a reeded edge, catalog for $1 when average circulated but for $20 when fully uncirculated.
- Coins dated 1939 with a plain edge (not a reeded edge) that are non-magnetic are uncommon and catalog at $2 in average circulated, $20 in fully uncirculated condition.
