The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (CCCP) issued these coins between 1924 and 1991. Prior to 1931, each coin contained silver. After that, they were copper-nickel. The silver coins are more valuable.
Also, some of these coins carry slightly different patterns than the 10 kopek piece shown in our primary picture. They all have the globe, the grain sheaves, the star, the hammer, and the sickle. But some have Russian lettering encircling that design. This page applies to all 10, 15, and 20 kopeks issued between 1924 and 1991. Simply ignore the slight variations in design. Our secondary picture shows a typical lettered obverse (front side of the coin).
