Seychelles is a tiny island nation far out to sea in the Indian Ocean east of Tanzania, Africa. The island was a Crown Colony of Great Britain until 1976, so the reigning British monarch appears on their coinange during that time. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II are the two monarchs on coins from Seychelles.
The earlier coins date back to 1939 and they carry some numismatic (coin collector) value. Most all other coins from Seychelles are worth face value or small amounts. Recently Seychelles has minted commemorative coins in gold and silver. These coins are worth their weight in precious metal.
Wendy's coin is a half rupee dated 1969. This coin, and all half rupees and rupees dated after 1939 are minted in copper-nickel. Silver rupees and half rupees are the ones dated 1939 with King George's likeness.
