These three pence are minted in 50 percent silver and each coin contains 0.0227 troy ounces of silver, giving them a base value of 0.0227 times the current price of silver (look it up, it changes every day, on web sites such as kitco.com.
For instance, if silver is trading at $30 US dollars per troy ounce, the value of one silver 3 pence is 0.0227 x 17.47 = 40 cents. If you have rolls of them, the value adds up quickly.
Collectors will pay substantially more than silver value if you have a coin that is fully, absolutely uncirculated. Add $10 US dollars to the base silver value for such a coin.
Also, dated 1942, 1943, and 1944 are more rare. Here are some catalog values for those dates:
3 PENCE DATED 1942 TO 1944
worn: $2 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $5
well preserved: $20
fully uncirculated: $60
