'Pro Deo et Patria,' Latin for 'For God and Country,' is prominently displayed on this silver coin from the old Swiss Cantons (Swiss States). They were minted from 1718 to 1753 and again, with the same pattern, from 1807 to 1811. All these coins, except the 1807 date, carry approximately the same catalog values, as follows:
worn: $35 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $100
well preserved: $180
fully uncirculated: $350
If you are fortunate enough to have an 1807, multiply these values by four.
The coin in our picture comes from Coin House SESAM Basel in Riehen, Switzerland where it is on sale for 60 euros, about $78 US dollars. CoinQuest thanks Coin House SESAM Basel for us of their coin photo.
Be sure to read our page on Important Terminology, where catalog values are explained.
