Norway 25 Kroner 1970

Norway 25 Kroner 1970

Now this is a nice big, hefty coin: 38 mm in diameter and made of 87.5% pure silver. The actual silver weight of the coin is 0.816 troy ounces.

Since this is a modern coin and there are plenty of them to go around (1.2 million were struck), the value is primarily silver value. A coin in beautiful, fully uncirculated condition, like the coin in our picture, might command two or three dollars more than silver value.

To compute silver value, first look up the price of silver on web sites such as kitco.com. Right now that price is $32.50 US dollars per troy ounce, but tomorrow it will be different. Look it up. Then multiply that value by 0.816 troy ounces of silver in this coin. 0.816 x 32.50 = $26.50 is the value today.
